Summary of Event:

PSU Alumni Career Services and the Central NJ Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association are co-sponsoring a networking event featuring Lee Rubin, a 1993 graduate and former Penn State Football player as our guest speaker.

Lee will focus on Corporate Networking: Remaining Relevant In a Fragile Economy.   In this session, Lee will help the group identify the keys to successful networking, challenge the current mainstream understanding of and learn to approach one's professional network.  He will help the group explore best practices on identifying, engaging, and leveraging existing networks including understanding one’s value, developing a 30 second speech, and utilizing the proper “equipment.”  Finally, participants will be given an opportunity to ask questions pertaining to their specific situation and walk away with a newfound understanding of how to effectively create and maintain a professional network.

About Lee Rubin:  From the Athletes@Work website:  Lee received his B.A. in Communications from Penn State University. He was a three-year starter and defensive captain for the Nittany Lion football team under the leadership of legendary coach, Joe Paterno. Lee led the team in tackles as a sophomore, and ended his career as the Defensive MVP of the 1994 Florida Citrus Bowl.

Following his tenure at Penn State, Lee began a successful career in corporate recruiting.  He has helped identify new talent for such Fortune 500 firms as Merrill Lynch, Dow Jones, Charles Schwab, and the Hess Corporation.  Lee's experience as a player, combined with his business background, provides a unique perspective for helping student-athletes transition successfully into professional careers.

Lee is also on the Board of Directors of the Community Refuge Education and Recreation Center, a program designed to aid underprivileged youth in the Central New Jersey area.
